Brittany and Jorge are from the Midwest, but after enjoying many Marco Island sunsets while vacationing at their step-dad’s condo, these Chicagoans fell in love with the notion of a relaxed beach wedding. When Jorge proposed to Brittany on her 30th birthday on a warm July night while walking along the Chicago River, they knew Florida would be the perfect location to continue building their love story. The two wed on November 11, 2017 at Hideaway Beach Club in Marco Island.
The couple’s favorite part of wedding planning was being able to add so many of their own meaningful touches to their perfect day. From having Brittany’s Uncle Mike marry them in a personalized beach ceremony in front of 55 of their closest friends and family just before sunset, to hand-crafting the wedding invitations and wedding décor, the couple gave so much consideration to each and every detail. They really thought of each decision as an opportunity to reflect what makes their relationship so special.
The two incorporated some deeply sentimental details surrounding the theme of “home” throughout the ceremony, including a favorite short article read by the bride’s cousins. They also knew that they wanted to pay homage to Jorge’s Mexican heritage, and what better way to do so than with a heartfelt Spanish reading of 1 Corinthians 13 by the groom’s older sister. The bride and her mother are extremely close, so it was an honor for Brittany to wear her wedding dress as her father proudly walked her down the aisle. Jorge wore a custom-fitted suit that the bride and groom designed together on a date night at their neighborhood bespoke tailor.
The day was filled with many surprises, including a package of hand-written letters that the bride’s sister collected from the bridesmaids and other family and friends. Being presented with such a meaningful token of love while getting ready with her bridesmaids created a sentimental moment that Brittany will never forget. One of Brittany’s bridesmaids also choreographed a special daddy-daughter dance to Heartland’s “I Loved Her First,” which she and her father beamingly performed for guests at the reception. After changing into a more comfortable dress, the bride got the party started by passing out light-up foam glow sticks and flip-flops to her guests. They were later surprised with a karaoke performance of “Uptown Funk” from one of their groomsmen, and a stunning sparkler send-off outside on the coconut deck.
Overall, it was so memorable to observe the wedding guests getting to know one another over the weekend and having a blast sharing in their vacation together. Brittany and Jorge will always cherish the time shared with their favorite people who traveled all the way to southwest Florida to share in their special day.
