Katie and Sean didn’t believe in Fate…now they do. It seems the universe has been trying to get them together since they played together as young children at their grandparent’s houses on Clear Lake, Iowa. Their grandparents lived just a few doors down from each other. But they had forgotten that. They both unknowingly applied to work at the same place in high school. But only Katie was hired. Katie used to go in to see Sean in high school at where he worked. But Sean always thought she just happened to be in the mall shopping. They both wanted to go to the University of Iowa. But Sean’s school counselor forgot to send in his transcript – so he went to Luther College instead. Sean attended Katie’s first wedding. But with someone else (and didn’t stop it). Sean and Katie both honeymooned at the same Maui resort with their first spouses. But four months apart and not with each other. Katie would stare at Sean’s Facebook picture and wonder if he was happy and what he was doing. But Sean didn’t share much at all on his page and posts – Katie didn’t do this to anyone else—ever. Then, Katie’s name changed, Sean was single, and so was she. Fate was finally getting her way. Sean didn’t act on this until the Cabo Spring Break blue bikini picture happened. Then, he texted her, and to his surprise she answered. Then, for the next six weeks they texted and talked and talked. Then, Katie flew to Des Moines from Denver. They hadn’t seen each other in 20 years. After many flights, many months, Sean meeting and getting along famously with Katie’s daughter, and many teary good-byes, the timing finally seemed perfect. Sean was in transition and if they were going to move forward – it had to be in the same city. They decided it would be best if Sean moved to Denver to live with them. Sean had taken Katie ring shopping just a few months after their first face to face. But it would be another nine months before the formal proposal. They have traveled to Las Vegas, Florida, Washington, Puerto Rico, Arizona, South Dakota and Iowa and plan to see (and face) the world together. When Sean proposed, there was a touch of sadness because both of Katie’s parents are deceased and couldn’t participate in their happiness or celebration. To honor her mother, and seemingly her heavy hand in much of their Fate – that’s another whole story, they got married on what would have been her 68th birthday, July 22.  They chose Naples, FL, because as a child, Katie would visit her grandparents in Siesta Key and always loved the powder white beach. They wanted the beach and the history…now they’re onto making their own history together. Fate finally had her way and they couldn’t be happier about it.
