Lara still remembers the first time she met Marty – literally, the first time she set eyes on him. She was running late to the coffee shop and he was already there (the only one there), sitting at a table. He looked up when she opened the door with the cold, blustery Chicago winter wind forcing its way in behind her. Their eyes met and they both felt a spark which became more evident over 3 hours of conversation. They kept warm over their coffees and Lara soon realized she would not have to rely on her well-planned “out” of having to return some clothes at the nearby shops on the Miracle Mile. Marty held her interest, and the feelings were mutual. The interest held long enough for them to realize it would be life-long, and true to Marty’s defining characteristic, he had the ultimate surprise for her in August 2014. They had just spent 3 days together sweating and freezing while doggedly climbing Mt. Rainier, and Marty proposed while they were recovering afterward in nearby Seattle. They had lots to celebrate that trip. They chose Naples, Florida in October 2015 as their wedding destination, and had beautiful weather to celebrate their marriage with family and friends. They will be dreaming of white sand, palm trees, and sunshine while they spend their first winter together in Chicago as newlyweds.
