Kara and Chris both attended the University of Kentucky; Chris played soccer and Kara was a gymnast. They knew “of” each other, but spoke maybe five words to each other during college. Kara can remember seeing Chris’s name next to hers on a screen saver in the computer lab at CATS (the athletic academic center at the University of Kentucky) one day. They were both State Farm Athletes of the Month for that particular month, and something strange made Kara think that maybe their paths would cross again in the future.
As much as Kara hates to admit it, years later she came across Chris’s name on a different computer screen…this time on facebook! Out of curiosity, she scanned his profile and saw that he grew up in Atlanta, not far from where she grew up. So, of course Kara sent a friend request (although she still thinks Chris sent one first). The next day, Kara opened up facebook and saw the request plus a long message from Chris. Kara and Chris spoke back and forth for a while, and finally spoke on the phone. Once they started talking, it was like they had known each other forever.
A while later, Chris and Kara realized they would both be in Atlanta for Christmas break. Chris ascertains that Kara “turned him down” three times before she finally decided to meet him for “coffee.”  (Of course coffee was part of Kara’s exit strategy, just in case). They finally agreed to meet for lunch (not coffee) on the last day before Kara was flying out back to Naples. On the day they were supposed to meet, Kara considered sending her twin sister in instead (she was so nervous), thinking her sister could turn him down and he would never know the difference. However, she did go through with it, and they hit it off immediately. I guess the rest is history!
Chris and Kara had the wedding of their dreams at Marco Island on October 3, 2014. Surrounded by their closest family and friends, Kara and Chris exchanged vows in a barefoot sunset ceremony on the beach.  Congratulations guys and thank you for letting us be a part of your wedding! 🙂
