One night sitting at a bar next to his friend, Shawn was looking at Facebook and noticed a picture of a girl and exclaiming, “Now this is the kind of girl I need to meet!”. Meanwhile, some other night at some other place, Melissa was reading posts on her friend’s walls thinking, “I have to meet this guy, he’s too funny!” So one fateful night, they met by chance as they tagged along with their mutual friends. Discovering they had more friends in common, Melissa had remarked when she graduated and Shawn told her that he liked older women. Melissa quickly retorted that she liked younger men and Shawn was intrigued.
Four months of messages went by of wrong numbers, talks of chest bumps, headbands, and crude humor until Melissa’s birthday. Shawn brought over his personal beer cooler and he and Melissa stayed up all night sitting on a picnic table discovering that their siblings were friends, and the many times they may have crossed paths. Shawn began helping Melissa cut her lawn and putting up tents for events and they soon became inseparable. When Hurricane Sandy hit, Shawn wanted to make sure Melissa and her daughter would be safe at their house and soon was never allowed to leave again. Although, it took 3 different attempts to ask Melissa to be his girlfriend, it took only one to become his bride.
