Alison and Brian met in quite an unusual way. They worked together for the same company, on the same floor, for an entire year before ever actually meeting. Alison had noticed Brian, but he claims he hadn’t noticed her because he was never interested in dating a co-worker.
It was their love of sports that brought them together initially. In 2009 Alison was asked by a mutual friend to join a college fantasy football league wth several other co-workers. It just so happened that on the night of the draft the only seat remaining when Brian finally walked in was right next to her. Within minutes they knew that there was something there. After a few texts back and forth, they went on their first date a week later. They talked for hours, and when Brian finally droped Alison off at 1:00am on a Wednesday night, they both knew that was not the last time they would see each other. Within weeks they knew they didn’t want to be apart.
They spent that Valentine’s Day at the Marriott on Marco Island. At the time Alison thought that it would be a great place for a wedding, but didn’t dare mention it to Brian since they had only been together for 5 months at the time. She just filed it away in her mind and when Brian proposed in 2011 over dinner on a cruise, the evening before her birthday, she knew just the place for a wedding.
Brian and Alison were married exactly one year later, the evening before her birthday, on the beach at the Marriott on Marco Island. 75 family and friends flew from Pittsburgh (and some from much much further) to be there with them. They wrote their own vows for a beautiful ceremony that could not have been more perfect and meaningful to them.
