Dan and Jen met by chance on Dan’s birthday in May of 2008. Jen and her friend were walking into a restaurant and a man walking in front of them held the door open. That man was Dan. Once Jen and her friend were seated at a table, Dan came by to introduce himself and ask Jen to have a drink with him, telling her that it was his birthday. Jen thought it was a bad pick-up line but figured why not. They got to talking and didn’t stop. From that night on they became inseparable and by the end of that summer, it was clear to both of them that they’d met “the one”. Dan spent the next three years patiently waiting for Jen to finish up her graduate program, proposing a few months before her graduation. They were married in September on the beach at the Marco Island Marriott in front of their closest friends and family members.
